Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding has more than 100 pandas, which is the best place to see and learn about these adorable creatures.

Not only do you get a chance to see giant pandas up close, but you can also learn about panda conservation and research efforts.

Don't miss

• The adorable young or juvenile giant pandas, which are usually found in Giant Panda Moon Delivery Room, Giant Panda Star Delivery Room, and Giant Panda Star Delivery Room.
• The most famous panda-"Huahua", who is known for her playful antics and distinctive markings.

• Subway: Line 3, exit D, and then take the shuttle bus to Panda base
• Taxi/Didi: Directly to the base

Best Time

Spring, Autumn and Winter (Except Summer). Giant pandas are sensitive to heat, and due to the hot weather in summer, only a few may be displayed indoors, not the best time for viewing.

Sightseeing Routes

• The routes within the park are quite clear, you can simply follow the sightseeing bus route and visit all the sites. Choose which gate to enter based on your preference.
• The West Gate leads to a newer and more expansive area with fewer visitors, which can help you avoid crowds to some extent.

From West to South

If you enter through the West Gate, you can avoid the crowds and enjoy a more peaceful visit.

As shown in the figure above, you can follow the route from South to West, and then reverse it to get from West to South.

Tips

• The panda base is quite large, so it is recommended to purchase a sightseeing bus ticket in advance from its WeChat official account, one day before your visit. The ticket costs ¥30 per person and allows unlimited hop-on hop-off access within the scenic area.
• Please wear comfortable sports shoes.
• Giant pandas are more active in the early morning, eating and playing. If possible, going earlier is a better choice.
