Beigushan Scenic Area: a short ridge above the Yangtze
Beigushan is Zhenjiang's most compact hill product. A short ascent links gates, pavilions and old structures to a broad Yangtze view, while Three Kingdoms traditions and poetry turn the ridge into more than a city lookout. Choose it when historical atmosphere matters as much as elevation.

A compact ridge above the Yangtze
Visitors consistently describe Beigushan as the shortest of Zhenjiang's three famous hills. That is a strength: the ascent changes quickly from street level to shaded ridge and river panorama, so a focused visit still feels complete.
It is not the best choice merely to tick off another mountain. Pick it for the relationship between the ridge, the old river approach and stories attached to Ganlu Temple and the Three Kingdoms.
Follow the ridge and pavilion sequence
Route to the Beigushan Park visitor centre on AMap. Use the current entrance rather than an internal pavilion or pier pin. From the lower gate, follow the managed ascent through the main historical sequence and save the broad river view for the upper part of the ridge.

The iron pagoda is a useful close-looking stop: material, surviving sections and reconstruction history reveal how differently monuments endure. Current room, tower and path access must follow on-site signs.
Three Kingdoms and literary interpretation
Beigushan's most memorable stories connect the ridge to Liu Bei, Sun Quan and the marriage tradition surrounding Ganlu Temple. Treat them as a cultural layer rather than a literal reconstruction of every event. Then add the literary line: writers used the height and river prospect to think about time, power, travel and loss.
This two-part reading—political legend below, river landscape above—gives a compact route more depth than simply photographing each pavilion.
Timed reservation and gate
The official reservation page checked on 25 August 2026 divided entry into 08:00–12:30 and 12:30–16:30 sessions, with a daily total of 7,000 places. It allowed next-day booking from midnight and same-day on-site reservation when capacity remained. Reconfirm the current session and entrance because weather and events can change access.
Check exact Beigushan admission on Trip.com. The selected resource covers only what it names. It does not include Jiaoshan, Jinshan, a guide, transport or an evening programme. Confirm the passport field, timed slot, redemption and cancellation before payment; carry the original document.
Pair it with the eastern city
AMap's model checked on 21 August 2026 placed Zhenjiang Station about 4.3 km / 12 minutes by car from the visitor centre. Jiaoshan's south visitor centre was a separate 5.1 km / 14-minute road product.
That makes Beigushan useful on an arrival or departure day, or before a separate Jiaoshan visit when its crossing remains comfortable. Do not force both into one block if the ferry return, heat or timed reservation removes the margin. Return to the Zhenjiang guide to compare the full four-product plan.
