Boundary Island
Boundary Island, or Fenjiezhou Island (分界洲岛), combines a short passenger-ferry crossing with beach, rocky viewpoints and separately sold marine activities. Choose it for the feeling of leaving the mainland and walking a compact tropical island. Do not choose it because a video promises a particular dive, animal encounter or sightseeing vehicle: sea conditions and road work can remove those pieces while admission remains on sale.
The operator's latest located notice had the attraction reopen on August 26, 2026 after a weather suspension. That does not guarantee your date. Check the operator's current notices on the evening before and again before leaving for the pier.
Book the ferry product first
The standard published structure is island admission plus round-trip passenger ferry. A Hainan government guide last published peak/off-peak baselines of CNY 132/127, but price, opening window and document rules can change. Check the exact Boundary Island product on Trip.com, then read the dated resource at checkout: confirm the visitor name and passport handling, outbound window, return deadline, round-trip boat, cancellation and whether anything else is included.
Treat diving, snorkeling, jet ski, parasailing, feeding, photography, performances and internal transport as separate unless the selected ticket names them. Health, age, weight, weather and equipment restrictions can also apply separately. The official same-day notice and staff decision override a commercial listing.
Getting to the mainland pier
Navigate to 分界洲岛游客中心, the mainland visitor center by the G98 Niuling exit—not to the island pin offshore. The checked road route from Lingshui railway station is about 19 km and 21 minutes by car before traffic.
The operator describes a free station shuttle taking roughly 15 minutes, but do not assume it is a turn-up city bus. Contact the operator through its transport page, confirm the current pickup point, departure, seat reservation and last return, and keep a ride-hail fallback. Arrive early enough for ticket or passport handling and the safety queue.
A walking route that does not depend on the sightseeing vehicle
Recent visitor reports in early September describe the internal sightseeing vehicle as suspended during road work. Until the operator announces otherwise, plan as if you will walk; travelers who cannot manage steps and exposed slopes should confirm vehicle restoration before booking.
After landing, use this decision route:
- Start along the low coast. Walk the open beach-and-rock sector first, while you still have control of time and energy. Observe barriers and staff routing because construction can change the usable path.
- Choose the hill only if the group is comfortable. The climb toward the elevated pavilions and rock viewpoints is steep, hot and short on continuous shade. Turn back when the surface, heat or return time stops being comfortable.
- Keep Moonlight Castle optional. It is a constructed photo stop on an extra branch, not a must-see island landmark. Drop it before rushing the ferry.
- Return to the landing area with a buffer. Allow at least 45–60 minutes before the final time printed on your confirmation, longer if queues or weather are building.
For scenery without a paid activity, allow four to six hours from mainland check-in to return. Select one major branch rather than trying to photograph every installation.
Marine activities and wildlife
Buy a water activity only after staff confirm that the exact activity is operating and explain the total price, insurance, equipment, changing facilities, photo package and refund rule. Wear the fitted life jacket, disclose medical conditions honestly and stop if the sea or equipment feels wrong. Bring a dry bag and spare clothes; getting wet does not mean a shower or locker is included.
Do not touch coral or feed marine animals. A promoted “manta feeding” moment is neither a guaranteed sighting nor a responsible reason to shape the day. Observe wildlife without food, pursuit or physical contact.
When to switch plans
Keep a mainland alternative such as Qingshui Bay. Switch when the operator suspends ferries, thunderstorms or strong wind are forecast, someone is unwell on boats, or walking access no longer fits the group. Motion-sickness medicine works best when taken according to its instructions before boarding; stay outside for fresh air only where crew permit and follow the life-jacket briefing.
