Shuangqiao Valley: ride high, then walk selectively
Shuangqiao Valley (双桥沟, Shuāngqiáo Gōu) gives you Mount Siguniang's broadest mountain-and-valley scenery with the least compulsory trail effort. A sightseeing bus reaches the high end of the valley, while open meadows, forest, streams and mountain walls create several good places to slow down on foot. It is the strongest first valley for families, mixed-energy groups and travellers who want alpine scale without committing to a full hiking day.
The best visit is not a race through every vehicle stop. Ride to the current high terminal, assess the weather and how your body feels after the rapid ascent, walk one worthwhile signed section, then use selected return stops to complete the landscape.

The park entrance sits at about 2,900 metres, while the official Red Forest terminal reaches about 3,840 metres. The bus removes distance, not altitude. Make the product choice again when you arrive high rather than deciding every walk in advance.
The ride-high, selective-return route
This diagram is a decision sequence, not a live bus map. Current dispatch, open boardwalks and staff directions control the visit.
1. Enter with the separate valley and bus products ready
Shuangqiao has its own dated admission inventory. Its sightseeing bus is a separate practical part of this valley day, not a transfer shared with Changping or Haizi. Confirm both components before entering and note the current final return and exit instructions.
2. Ride to Red Forest unless live dispatch changes the sequence
The official route advice is to ride to the high end first and work back through return stops. Use Red Forest (红杉林) as the planning role, but accept a different sequence when current dispatch or weather control changes it. The purpose is to avoid spending the freshest part of the day on lower stops and reaching the upper valley with no margin.
3. Reassess before choosing the walking section
At the high end, pause before setting off. Check visibility, precipitation, the open-path board, your breathing and the group's energy. Choose one upper walking link only when it is signed open. Look for a route that combines high forest, stream and open mountain views, but remember that the exact usable boardwalk changes; never replace a closed footpath with the sightseeing-vehicle road unless staff explicitly directs it.
4. Descend through a small number of contrasting stops
After the walk, use the bus to select a few different landscape types: perhaps an open mountain viewpoint, a lake or stream edge, and a lower meadow or forest section. Water level, reflections, foliage and snow change across the year, so a landscape-led plan is more reliable than a compulsory saved-stop checklist.
5. Preserve the final bus and exit margin
Finish the last walk while the return connection is still simple. Queueing, weather control and slower group members can absorb more time than another short stop adds. A selective finish lets the final meadow, water and mountain view remain an experience rather than a countdown.

The three Mount Siguniang valleys have separate tickets and can sell out separately. Use the official 阿坝旅游 / Abatour channel or the Mount Siguniang official channels for the exact date; holiday extensions and the previous winter timetable are not normal-day schedules.

International visitors are being received, but the public notices reviewed do not document one reproducible foreign-passport checkout and gate workflow. Before paying, confirm the accepted passport field, payment method and staffed-entry procedure with the official ticket service, and carry the original document used for the booking.
Getting there from Mount Siguniang Town
Route to the exact Shuangqiao Valley AMap marker, not the broad Mount Siguniang scenic-area pin. AMap's 21 August 2026 model placed the valley entrance about 6.9 km / 14 minutes by road from the neutral Mount Siguniang Town civic anchor. Its walking model was 6.7 km / 1 hour 29 minutes, and it returned no public-transit itinerary for the local leg.
Treat those as route-planning estimates, not proof of a shuttle, taxi supply or fixed journey time. Arrange the current local vehicle with your lodging or ticket service and confirm the exact pickup, valley drop-off and return plan.
A same-day Chengdu product is a different, much more compressed way to visit. Meeting points are supplier-confirmed, not universal hotel pickup, and no fixed departure time is reproduced here.
Altitude, weather and route discipline
- The bus climbs rapidly from roughly 2,900 to 3,840 metres. Move gently at the upper end and reduce the walking section if headache, dizziness, unusual breathlessness or fatigue develops; seek staff or medical help when symptoms persist or worsen.
- Mountain weather and temperature can change quickly. Carry a warm layer plus rain and sun protection, even when the entrance is mild.
- Snow and ice can change which boardwalks and stops operate. Follow the current signs and never enter a closed section for a photograph.
- The bus and broad road do not make every stop step-free. Ask the official service channel about current accessible stops, gradients and boarding arrangements if mobility is a deciding factor.
- Wildlife or grazing animals may be visible in the wider landscape, but this is not a managed animal-interaction product. Keep your distance and follow staff guidance.
Fit Shuangqiao into a Mount Siguniang stay
For most international visitors, stay in Mount Siguniang Town, use Shuangqiao as the first full valley day, then choose the forest walking of Changping Valley or the open high-country character of Haizi on a separate ticket and date. The Mount Siguniang guide compares all three products.
