Jinan Springs and Old City: follow the water across one day
Jinan's essential first-day experience follows the water beyond its most famous pool: from a formal spring garden to a quieter free park, lived-in water lanes and a broad city lake. A selective walk makes those changing landscapes the story of the day.

Choose one of three products
| Product | Sequence | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Core half day | Baotu → Wulongtan → Qushuiting/Baihuazhou → Daming south side | First visit with moderate walking |
| Full spring day | Core route + longer lake section + Black Tiger Spring/moat finish | Water, lanes and evening atmosphere |
| Reduced walking | Baotu + Wulongtan, then transfer to either lanes or lake | Families, heat or limited energy |
Start at Baotu Spring for the managed garden and spring culture. When checked on 19 August 2026, the official baseline was CNY 40 and 07:00–19:00. Check the exact Baotu admission on Trip.com, but confirm that checkout accepts your document; the product does not include the free old-city layers or a boat.
Leave from the side that is actually open and continue to Five Dragon Pool. AMap's 21 August 2026 model puts Baotu's north ticket office only 0.2 km / 3 minutes on foot from the Wulongtan visitor centre. The current official baseline lists Wulongtan as free, 07:00–22:30, with clearing from 22:00.
Let the middle stay flexible
From Wulongtan, AMap measured 1.1 km / 15 minutes to the Daming Lake visitor centre; the lake visitor centre to Qushuiting is 0.9 km / 12 minutes, and Qushuiting to Baihuazhou only 0.2 km / 3 minutes. These external/public nodes prove a compact district, not guaranteed cross-gate passage.
Use Qushuiting and Baihuazhou for texture rather than a shop list: narrow water channels, courtyard edges and ordinary neighborhood life. Then choose whether Daming Lake is a short spacious finish or a longer shore walk. The public landscape is free at the checked baseline, but towers, individual interiors, performances and boats have separate rules.

Add Black Tiger Spring only as the longer finish
Baihuazhou to Black Tiger Spring is about 1.4 km / 19 minutes on foot in the checked AMap model. It adds the everyday moat-side spring layer and gives the route a satisfying southeast finish, but it is the first section to cut in heat, rain or fatigue.
Use only designated treated drinking-water points. Do not drink directly from ornamental pools or channels, and do not treat a public spring as permission to swim. Spring discharge, water level and flood closures change; the water bureau's live reading is more useful than an old photograph.
Boats are optional, same-day products
A Daming Lake or moat boat can reduce walking, but official operations change with weather, crowds, sunset and staged reopenings. Confirm the selected date, pier, direction, price and final departure on the day. Do not assume every pier runs, that lake and moat form one through-route, or that a boat includes Baotu admission.
The route succeeds without a boat: formal spring garden → quiet free spring park → lived-in water lanes → open lake or moat finish.
