Inner Mongolia

Inner Mongolia spans a vast arc of northern China. ChinaGoTrip's first complete base is Ordos, where a traveler can combine contemporary Kangbashi, the Kubuqi Desert at Xiangshawan and the ceremonial landscape of the Genghis Khan Mausoleum. These are separate road sectors and work best across two or three days.

A realistic first route

Use Kangbashi for arrival, the Ordos Museum and an evening waterfront walk. Reserve a full second day for either Xiangshawan or the mausoleum. Add the remaining outer sector on Day 3 only when a driver, tour or confirmed transport makes the geography work.

Choose the season by the product

Late spring and early autumn usually offer the most comfortable balance for desert and city walking. Summer can be hot and exposed; winter is cold and windy. Desert resorts, activities and performances may operate seasonally, so dated inventory matters more than a generic attraction listing.

Transport is part of the itinerary

Ordos Airport, Kangbashi, Dongsheng, Dalad Banner and Ejin Horo Banner are not one compact center. Confirm every pickup, return and luggage condition. A private driver or organized product can be more useful than repeated ride-hailing when visiting outer sectors.

Future Inner Mongolia coverage should add another city only when it supports a complete visitor journey. This guide does not present distant grassland, border and desert regions as Ordos day trips.
