Ordos
Ordos is a prefecture-scale destination. Kangbashi and Ordos Museum, Xiangshawan and the Genghis Khan Mausoleum sit in different directions. A flat city map hides the road time between them.
Two days or three
With two days, use Kangbashi for the museum and waterfront, then choose one outer sector. With three, give Xiangshawan and the mausoleum separate days. Combining both outer sectors on one day turns the journey into long road hours and leaves little room for either place.
Choose the base
Kangbashi is the most useful general base for the airport, museum and civic district. Dongsheng may suit rail or a northbound plan. Dalad Banner is more practical for an early Xiangshawan start, while Ejin Horo fits the mausoleum side. Check the exact hotel pin before booking.
Desert and ceremony need different preparation
At Xiangshawan, decide between landscape access, activity packages and a resort stay. At the mausoleum, allow a calmer visit and respect ritual spaces, photography limits and scheduled ceremonies. Neither should be reduced to a quick photo stop.
