The Genghis Khan Mausoleum (成吉思汗陵) in Ejin Horo Banner is not the archaeologically verified burial place of Genghis Khan. It is a cenotaph and a living centre of commemoration, where the Darkhad guardians have maintained rituals linked to the mobile “Eight White Yurts” tradition. The present monumental halls date from the twentieth century, but the ceremonial function is not a theme-park invention.

Walk the ceremonial approach before entering the three connected domed halls. Look for the building's eagle-like silhouette, Mongolian motifs and the distinction between memorial objects, guardianship traditions and modern historical display.

English interpretation is uneven. A licensed guide can be worthwhile for the ritual vocabulary, but ask whether the fee covers only the sacred core or the wider tourism area. A translation app helps with exterior panels; keep the phone away wherever device use or photography is restricted.
