Shijiazhuang
Shijiazhuang works best as a two-part base: use the modern city for Hebei Museum, then cross to Zhengding for one of northern China's most concentrated groups of historic temples, pagodas and city fabric.

- Two days: museum block, then Longxing Temple and a linear Zhengding walk.
- Cut first: minor urban stops before shortening Longxing Temple or crossing between the two areas repeatedly.

Transport and base
High-speed trains use Shijiazhuang Station and Shijiazhuang North depending on service. Zhengding has separate rail stops and urban road access; verify the station name, last bus and ride-hailing pickup instead of treating it as one neighborhood.
Choose accommodation by the first departure and onward connection, not by a broad area name.
Weather and margin
Most core sights work year-round, but outdoor walls and courtyards are exposed to summer heat, winter wind and air-quality changes. Museum reservations and Monday closures deserve a live check.
Where to go next
Continue south to Anyang or north toward Beijing; Chengde is a separate northeast branch rather than a quick extension.
