Ge Garden: read four seasons through bamboo and stone
Ge Garden condenses Yangzhou's salt-merchant history into a refined sequence of bamboo, residence and rockery. Its signature idea is not four separate photo spots, but changing material, light and movement used to suggest the seasons.

Bamboo and four-season rockery thinking
Begin with bamboo as more than decoration: it sets rhythm, shadow and the garden's name. In the rockery sequence, look at stone type, opening size, path height and framed vegetation. The seasonal idea becomes clearer through transitions than through labels alone.
Walk the garden sequence
Move from the bamboo threshold into residential courtyards, then through the spring, summer, autumn and winter rockery ideas. Avoid backtracking simply to collect a missed angle; the designed progression is the visit.

Separate garden admission from public Dongguan Street
Ge Garden is a paid protected garden; Dongguan Street outside is public urban fabric. Check the exact Ge Garden ticket on Trip.com, confirming date, gate, last admission, accepted passport, redemption and whether a night product is separate.
No garden ticket is required simply to walk the public street.
Add the old-city continuation
The south ticket-office area and Dongguan Street visitor centre were about 0.8 km / 11 minutes on foot apart in the dated model. After the garden, continue through the public old-city layer for architecture, snacks or an evening walk, choosing current businesses rather than a fixed merchant list.
This pairing gives Ge a useful half-day shape without forcing another paid garden.
Live night product and entry
Ge Garden sometimes operates date-specific evening products with extended access or performances. Treat them as separate from ordinary daytime admission. Confirm the day's open gate, route, room access and whether the night resource replaces or supplements a day visit.
Pair Ge or He, not both by default
Choose Ge for bamboo, rockery abstraction and the Dongguan Street continuation. Choose He Garden for a late-Qing residence, two-level corridors and framed house-garden views.
They were about 1.7 km / 23 minutes on foot apart in the dated model, but two garden admissions can blur together. Visit both only when garden architecture is a main interest and you have a full unhurried day.
