Guishan Han Tomb: read royal engineering inside a mountain
Guishan Han Tomb rewards visitors who enjoy architecture, measurement and archaeological puzzles. Built for the sixth Chu king Liu Zhu and his consort, the cliff-cut complex is defined by long parallel corridors and carefully excavated chambers. It feels materially different from the Lion Mountain tomb and deserves its own focused half day.

The wider scenic area can include the Imperial Edict Museum and Dianshi Garden Stone Art Museum, but they are distinct components. Choose them for inscriptions, documents or garden-and-stone interests only after the current ticket and opening notice confirm access.
What makes the tomb special
The long paired passages make ancient surveying and excavation immediately visible. Look at alignment, stone surfaces, room relationships and the contrast between engineering precision and funerary purpose. Interpretation materially improves this site, so check whether an official explanation or audio option is available in a language you can use.
Do not expect a fixed self-guided route from an online diagram. Live signs and staff control which corridors and chambers are accessible, the direction of visitor flow and any capacity limit. That uncertainty does not diminish the tomb's value; it simply makes the principal engineering story more useful than a chamber checklist.
Tickets, documents and the underground setting
Check dated Guishan Han Tomb tickets on Trip.com. The accepted surface is for the tomb itself. Do not assume it includes the Imperial Edict Museum, Dianshi Garden, a guide or any special evening experience unless the selected checkout names each component.
Before paying, verify the accepted document, name matching, e-ticket exchange, original-passport requirement and cancellation terms. Ordinary hours and seasonal extensions can change, while weather or maintenance can affect underground access; check the operator's current notice close to the visit.
The interior may include steps, lower ceilings, cool temperatures and narrow sections. Wear stable shoes, follow lighting and photography rules, and ask staff about accessible alternatives before entering if confined passages or stairs are difficult. Conditions can vary by open chamber.
Getting there without forcing a cross-city day

- 12.4 km / about 24 minutes from the Han Stone Art Museum; and
- 21.9 km / about 27 minutes from Han Culture Scenic Area.
