Xuzhou Museum: turn the tombs into a connected story
Xuzhou Museum is the city's best first stop for understanding Han archaeology. Jade burial objects, funerary figures and material from royal tombs give names, chronology and craft to sites that can otherwise feel like separate underground chambers. Admission is free; give the collections two to three focused hours.

Build the visit around three questions
- How did a Chu king imagine the afterlife? Start with the royal-burial context and look at how jade, bronze, pottery and figurines formed one funerary system.
- What can objects reveal that a tomb cannot? Craft, inscriptions and reconstructed archaeological context make the people behind the burial spaces easier to read.
- How does Han Xuzhou fit a longer city history? Finish with one local-history or archaeology layer rather than trying to clear every building.
The museum complex can include the main galleries, a Qianlong-period palace, quarry and archaeology layers. Let the current floor plan and closure notices decide what to add; the most satisfying core is still the Han collection and its tomb context.

Free admission, official reservation
The museum's current visitor guidance lists Tuesday–Sunday, 09:00–17:00, with last admission at 16:00, and ordinary Monday closure except on statutory holidays. It releases timed reservations through its official system. Check the official visitor page before going because release timing, holiday openings and available buildings can change.
The museum states that free reservations and on-site guiding are not authorised for third-party sale, so this page has no paid ticket CTA. The current foreign-passport form and staffed-help procedure need a live check. Carry the original passport, use the museum's official channel and leave time to ask staff rather than relying on a reseller.
Museum first or tomb first?
Both orders work:

Do not treat the museum reservation as admission to Han Culture Scenic Area or Guishan Han Tomb. Both are separate paid sites in different parts of Xuzhou.
Getting there and pairing it well
Open the Xuzhou Museum visitor centre on AMap. AMap models checked on 21 August 2026 placed it 5.9 km / about 18 minutes by car from Xuzhou Station and 14.9 km / about 25 minutes from Xuzhou East Station. Real traffic determines the transfer.
For an easy continuation, Huilongwo is about 1.3 km / 18 minutes on foot. The Han Stone Art Museum is about 1.5 km / 21 minutes on foot, making the Yunlong Lake and Han Stone route a good lower-intensity second half. Return to the Xuzhou guide for the two- or three-day sequence.
