Two Dams One Gorge Cruise

Two Dams One Gorge (两坝一峡, Liǎng Bà Yī Xiá) combines the Gezhouba ship-lock experience, the river scenery of Xiling Gorge and a visit to the Three Gorges Dam area. The classic day mixes boat and road transport. It is a useful way to give Yichang one focused river-and-engineering day without organizing every transfer yourself.

Choose the direction of your day

Read the itinerary's Chinese direction label before comparing tickets:

  • 船去车回 — boat out, road back: take the river leg first, then continue to the dam visit and return by road.
  • 车去船回 — road out, boat back: begin with the road and dam portion, then cruise back toward the city.

Compare the live Two Dams One Gorge options on Trip.com, then confirm the direction on your actual booking, the vessel, the assembly point and where the trip ends. Do not assume that a product name alone fixes the order or that every sailing uses the same pier.

Enjoy three different parts of the experience

At Gezhouba: the lock is the engineering event. Watch the vessel's level change relative to the lock walls and listen to the explanation. The upstream and downstream experiences reverse the direction of that water-level change.

Through Xiling Gorge: leave time simply to watch the banks, cliffs and settlements pass. Alternate outdoor viewing with a seated break when available. This is a moving landscape visit; a place visible from the ship is not necessarily an included stop ashore.

At the Three Gorges Dam: use the shore visit to understand the scale and relationship between the dam and navigation structures. Viewing the ship lift and traveling through it are different experiences. If riding the lift is your main goal, choose a product that explicitly includes it rather than assuming it comes with every Two Dams One Gorge ticket.

Make it your main day in Yichang

The retained regional visitor route gives this outing its own day and keeps the evening for the city. That is a useful pace: preserve the daylight for the river and shore visit, then decide on dinner after the actual return time is clear.

Before boarding, confirm meal arrangements, seat category and deck access. Carry water and weather protection, and keep your identity document accessible for check-in. Check whether your passport can be registered in the booking flow before paying.

Leave the finish flexible

Navigation control, water levels and weather can alter the schedule or a segment. Use the confirmed boarding cutoff and final arrival point for the day's logistics; do not arrange a tight onward train around a promotional arrival time.

If the package already includes Three Gorges Dam, a separate dam outing may repeat the same visit. Three Gorges Tribe is a different scenic day, not an automatic extra after this cruise. Compare the named itinerary and inclusions rather than relying on a tourism group's broad service categories.
