Yichang
Yichang is the practical base for three different Yangtze experiences: engineering at the Three Gorges Dam, river movement through Xiling Gorge, and a managed landscape-and-culture day at Three Gorges Tribe.

The editorial image supports orientation; weather, access and live operations can differ.
How many days
- Two days: one dam or cruise product plus a flexible riverfront block.
- Three days: dam, cruise and Three Gorges Tribe as separate jobs.
- Cut first: a second overlapping gorge product before tightening dock and bus connections.
Choose your route
- Engineering day at the Three Gorges Dam with security and shuttle time.
- Water day on the exact Two Dams One Gorge itinerary you purchased.
- Landscape day at Three Gorges Tribe, including transfer, ferry or cableway choices and final return.
The anchors that earn the trip
Transport and base
Yichang East is the main rail gateway, while cruise products use specific river terminals. Never infer the dock from the words 'Yichang cruise'; verify boarding, disembarkation, bus return and luggage handling.
Choose accommodation by the first departure and onward connection, not by a broad area name.
Weather and margin
River level, fog, rain, heat and navigation controls affect visibility and vessel schedules. Scenic roads and trails can close after heavy rain; keep one city fallback.
Where to go next
Continue upstream by booked cruise or rail/road toward Chongqing, or return east to Wuhan. Shennongjia and Enshi are separate mountain journeys.
