Shigatse is both a major Tibetan cultural center and the staging point for western routes. International visitors must place the licensed agency, Tibet permit, border-area permissions and acclimatization ahead of attraction order.

- Two days: Shigatse arrival/reset and Tashilhunpo.
- Three days: add Sakya as a separate road day.
- Five or more days: add Everest only inside an approved route with acclimatization and weather margin.

Weather and margin
Altitude, wind, cold, snow and cloud control the western route in every season. A clear Everest view is never guaranteed; symptoms require descent or medical action, not schedule negotiation.
