Yuantouzhu: build the Taihu day on land first
Yuantouzhu gives Wuxi its most expansive lake day: wooded paths, garden details, water-level viewpoints and a headland that opens onto Taihu. The passenger ferry and Taihu Fairy Island can deepen the visit, but the landscape already works before you board anything.

Taihu landscape from a managed headland
Come for the relationship between land and water rather than a checklist of blossom sites. The best durable sequence moves through shaded garden space, reaches the lakefront, and keeps returning to broad Taihu views. Allow roughly half a day for a selective land visit and longer if you add the island.
The ordinary city-authority baseline checked for this guide was CNY 90 including a ferry. Treat that as a dated reference, not a guarantee for every exact retail resource or night product.
Choose land-first or ferry-added visit
| Product | Best for | What to protect |
|---|---|---|
| Land-first | Gardens, headland views and flexible pacing | Time for the core lakefront without queue dependence |
| Ferry-added | Visitors who actively want the island and a water crossing | Sailing, inclusion, last return and extra walking |
Choose land-first if queues are long, weather is uncertain, or the island is not a priority. Choose the ferry-added version only after confirming that the exact ticket includes it and that the return leaves enough time.
Enter through the live gate
Use the Chongshan Gate visitor centre as the external planning target unless the current operator or ticket tells you otherwise. The dated map model placed it about 17.0 km / 27 minutes by road from Wuxi Station. Dushan is a distinct northern gate layer and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Spring events can change road access, parking and gate control. Follow the day's ticket and operator notice rather than an old route screenshot.
Build a selective lake route
Begin with the garden and wooded approach, continue to the signature headland and spend time on the lakefront. Add one or two smaller garden or pavilion layers instead of trying to collect every named point.

This order remains satisfying outside the blossom season. In hot weather, keep shade and water views early; in spring crowds, protect the headland before optional extras.
Ferry, island and internal transport
The ferry and internal vehicle are managed services, not ordinary city transport. Confirm their boarding point, operation, last return and inclusion on the day. AMap's very short internal driving result is a routing snap and must not be used as permission for a private car or as a vehicle timetable.
Taihu Fairy Island adds a separate walking layer. Skip it without regret when sailing is disrupted or the time cost would weaken the mainland landscape.
Season, weather and crowd choices
Cherry blossom season can be spectacular, but it also brings temporary traffic controls and much heavier demand. Outside that window, Yuantouzhu still offers Taihu space, garden structure and a calmer headland experience.
Wind, water conditions and major events can change the ferry or night programme. Verify the selected date, entry gate, last entry, accepted passport and redemption before payment, then check sailing again on arrival.
Return to the city
Keep Yuantouzhu as the day's main outward product. Liyuan was only 3.0 km / 7 minutes by road from the Chongshan visitor centre in the dated model, but it has separate admission; add it only with a light Yuantouzhu route.
Check the exact Yuantouzhu ticket on Trip.com. Confirm whether the chosen resource includes admission, ferry, internal vehicle or any specialist garden. Return to central Wuxi for Qingming Bridge or Nanchang Street rather than forcing another distant attraction.
