Daqikong Scenic Area
Daqikong (大七孔景区) is the shorter, quieter counterpart to Xiaoqikong. Its route follows a narrow river corridor toward a huge limestone natural bridge. Come for a focused gorge walk, not another all-day checklist: three to four hours is a sensible planning block when the main walkway and boats are operating.
The best use of Daqikong
Visit on a separate morning after Xiaoqikong, or use it as a half-day when your arrival or departure leaves too little time for the larger park. Trying to add it after six hours in Xiaoqikong often turns the natural bridge into a rushed final stop. The entrance is near Xiaoqikong's east-side visitor area, but the two attractions have distinct routes and optional services.
The simplest line is:
- Enter and follow the river boarding area.
- Take the inward boat if it is operating and the view is clear.
- Walk from the landing through the gorge to the natural bridge.
- Complete the signed bridge loop, then return along the approved walkway or by boat if a return service is available.
The inward boat is an energy choice, not a requirement. Recent visitors prefer it for the first reveal of the enclosing cliffs; walkers can instead follow the managed river path. Do not buy a return ride automatically—check the weather, walkway status and your legs after reaching the bridge.
Natural bridge, water and turnaround
The natural bridge is the payoff. Slow down as the gorge narrows: the scale is easier to understand from the riverside path than from one photo point. The terrain is generally more shaded than Xiaoqikong, but spray, algae and recent rain can make stone sections slick. A light rain jacket is more useful than an umbrella on narrow paths.
High water can suspend boats or close a walkway; low water changes the atmosphere but not the geology. At entry, ask which sections are open and where the last return transport departs. Turn around based on that answer, not on an old map or a social post.
Be careful with names: the famous Daqikong natural bridge is inside this gorge route. References to a “Daqikong ancient bridge” may describe a separate stop reached from the Xiaoqikong internal transport line. Do not add that stop unless staff confirm the current boarding and drop-off arrangement.
Ticket and pairing decisions
Check whether your dated product covers Daqikong alone or is bundled with Xiaoqikong, and whether sightseeing transport or either boat direction is included. Carry the original passport used for the reservation. If an automated gate fails, use the staffed counter rather than purchasing a duplicate ticket.
Compare the current Daqikong options on Trip.com, then confirm water-level closures and the last departure with the scenic area on the day. Boat operations are particularly weather-sensitive.
Bring water and a small snack, but expect fewer full-service choices than at Xiaoqikong's major transfer stops. Toilets are easiest to use near the entrance; take the opportunity before committing to the gorge. The main riverside line is not step-free, and the combination of wet stone and boat boarding is unsuitable for travellers who need a fully accessible route.
Choose Daqikong or Xiaoqikong
Choose Xiaoqikong for the complete Libo water-and-forest day, multiple named stops and the old seven-arch bridge. Choose Daqikong for a shorter gorge, one dominant geological sight and fewer routing decisions. With two days, do Xiaoqikong first and Daqikong early the next morning; with only one full day, Xiaoqikong normally wins.
Keep Maolan separate. It needs a confirmed forest or cave route and local transport, rather than a quick extension from either gate. If Daqikong's boat and natural-bridge path are both closed, postpone it rather than paying for a diminished substitute circuit.
