Weizhou Island: give the volcanic coast two nights
Weizhou Island (涠洲岛, Wéizhōu Dǎo) is Beihai's landscape-led escape: volcanic cliffs, dark rock meeting clear sea light, village churches and coastlines that change character from sunrise to sunset. Two nights give most first-time visitors the best balance—one protected arrival, one complete day with Crocodile Mountain at the centre, and one selective morning before the return ferry.

Choose one, two or three nights

A one-night trip is a choice, not a compressed full circuit. If the ferry arrives late or the weather closes a coast, keep Crocodile Mountain as the priority and release the sunrise, church or sunset branch. A third night buys flexibility rather than a promise of more attractions.
Put Crocodile Mountain at the centre
Crocodile Mountain is the island's defining product: volcanic forms, cliffs, marine erosion and shifting views between forest and coast. Allow a substantial block and start from the Crocodile Mountain Visitor Centre on AMap, then follow the current managed route and signs.
The landscape includes steps, exposed sections and heat. Carry water, use sun protection, wear grippy footwear and turn back early enough for the managed exit. Current weather, coastal controls and on-site route status outrank any saved itinerary; a map pin does not prove that every coastal section is open.
Use the other coasts as choices
Wucai Beach for a conditional sunrise
Wucai Beach on AMap is the east-coast branch for early light and volcanic shoreline textures. It is worthwhile only when the weather, tide, access and your sleep plan agree. Sunrise itself is never guaranteed, and exposed or slippery rock calls for the current safety boundary rather than a closer photo.
South Bay for food and evening energy
South Bay is useful for meals and a livelier evening, especially if the chosen accommodation already places you nearby. Roads and slopes can make a short-looking connection slower than expected. Treat it as a base-and-food decision, not an essential scenic checkpoint.
The west coast for sunset
A west-coast sunset works naturally on the arrival evening or on a three-night plan. Choose one confirmed-access beach near the accommodation and keep enough daylight for the return. Weather determines the light; the route should still feel complete without it.
Add Shengtang Church when history interests you
Shengtang Church (盛塘天主教堂) adds a different layer: coral-stone texture, village scale and the history of a Catholic community on a volcanic island. Pair it with an east-side or village block rather than racing there between two coasts. Use the Shengtang visitor centre on AMap for the external arrival and follow current signs.

This is an active religious site, not only a photo stop. Dress respectfully, lower your voice, avoid interrupting worship and follow any current interior-photography rule. The exterior still gives the visit architectural value if the church interior is closed.
Match the base to one daily priority

These are planning roles, not fixed hotel-district boundaries. Verify the exact property pin, road access, international-guest policy and pickup terms. A hotel saying “transfer available” does not prove that every arrival, departure or scenic connection is included.
Book ferry and admission as separate products
Use the official ferry platform for the passenger crossing between Beihai International Passenger Port and Weizhou Xijiao Wharf. Book the outbound and return around the actual trip, carry the original passport used for booking, and follow the current terminal instructions. Visitor bicycles and cars are not carried under the ordinary passenger rules.
Then check the exact Weizhou Island admission product on Trip.com. Confirm the visit date, accepted document and redemption instructions before payment. This admission does not include the outbound ferry, return ferry, island transport, accommodation, meals or a Crocodile Mountain vehicle unless the selected checkout explicitly lists them.
Sea conditions and typhoon controls can alter or cancel sailings. Protect a mainland buffer before any non-refundable flight or long-distance train, and use the official sailing status rather than a saved timetable or third-party promise.
Plan the island connections conservatively
AMap's external road models checked on 21 August 2026 placed Xijiao Wharf about 4.3 km / 12 minutes by car from the Crocodile Mountain visitor centre, 5.8 km / 14 minutes from Wucai Beach and 7.1 km / 17 minutes from the Shengtang visitor centre. Crocodile Mountain to Wucai measured about 3.6 km / 11 minutes.
Those distances explain why one selective branch works better than collecting every coast. They do not prove a legal rental, sightseeing vehicle, fixed shuttle, pickup or road opening. Confirm the current transfer with the accommodation or an authorized local operator. Use an e-scooter only if it is legal for you, properly registered and insured, and you are comfortable with slopes, rain and local traffic.
