Choose one beach as the main outing

Tannan Bay (坛南湾, Tánnán Wān) is a useful counterpoint to Pingtan's northern viewpoints: come for sand, a shoreline walk and time beside the water. Allow a half-day as a planning block, with transport included separately. You can spend longer if a beach break is the purpose of the trip.

The bay name covers more than one beach section. Saved visitor accounts mention Tianmei'ao (田美澳) and Yuandang'ao (远垱澳) as individual choices. Pick an exact entrance and pickup point rather than asking a driver to take you simply to “Tannan Bay.” Compare the facilities and current access at the section you choose, not a photograph taken elsewhere along the coast.

A slower way to spend the visit

Begin with a short walk to understand the beach, find a rest point and decide how much time you want on the sand. Keep the same entrance as your meeting point if travelling with a driver. That gives you a simple return without needing to find transport at the far end of a coastal walk.

For a family outing, choose one section with the facilities you need and stay there. One saved account found that a single beach was enough during the heat of the day; another lost track of sun exposure while spending time on the shore. Bring sun protection and plan a shaded break rather than repeatedly transferring between similar beaches.

For a walking visit, enjoy the beach and its views without making water activities compulsory. If considering a boat or other paid activity, first confirm the operator, total price, duration and return point. Keep north and south separate

The saved trips work most clearly as a northern sightseeing day followed by a southern beach day. Dafu Bay and other southern beaches appear as optional additions, but they are not necessary for enjoying Tannan Bay. Add one only if the current journey is straightforward and everyone still wants another stop.

Swimming depends on the actual supervised area, flags and weather on the day. A clear-looking sea or a visitor photograph is not proof that entering the water is safe. Follow local instructions, keep out of closed areas and cancel water plans during storm or typhoon warnings.
