Changbai Mountain North Slope
North Slope (长白山北景区) is the most complete first-time product. From an Erdaobaihe-area base, its controlled transport connects the optional summit vehicle with Changbai Waterfall, hot-spring river scenery, Green Deep Pool and forest stops. Give it a full day.

Decide at the first transport branch
The summit vehicle is weather-dependent and may require a separate component. If it operates and Tianchi is the priority, take the controlled route when directed, then return to the waterfall corridor and lower attractions. If it is suspended, rebuild the day around the waterfall, pools and forest rather than waiting indefinitely.
For travelers staying in Erdaobaihe, recent visitors usually found Chibei Distribution Center (池北集散中心) the practical booked departure point. Do not assume every North Slope ticket leaves from the same place: match the distribution center printed on the dated product, arrive for that slot, and expect the first coach ride to the internal transfer center to consume a substantial part of the morning.
Use the transfer center as the day’s control point
When all major stops operate, a useful sequence is summit first → Julong hot-spring and waterfall corridor → Small Tianchi → the boardwalk toward Green Deep Pool → optional Underground Forest → exit. Recent visitors report that Small Tianchi and Green Deep Pool can form one walking segment of roughly one kilometre instead of two separate vehicle returns. Treat that as an on-site option, because staff routing and open boardwalks control the actual connection.
Underground Forest is the easiest major cut: its boardwalk is an approximately three-kilometre return walk, and the worthwhile forest view comes near the far end. Keep it only when daylight, legs and the last outbound coach all permit it. A seven-hour low-crowd itinerary is not a safe template for a busy holiday, when every vehicle change can add a queue.

Cut lower stops intelligently
The internal system is long. Protect the last return and remove one minor pool or forest section before rushing the waterfall or missing external transport. Snow, wet stone and stairs affect mobility even when buses cover the long links. The North Scenic Area expanded walking boardwalks into loops and added viewing and rest space around the waterfall and Green Deep Pool in 2025, so an older linear signboard is useful only for the major vehicle branches, not for the exact current walking path. Book the North Slope, not the mountain name
Confirm the dated North Scenic Area ticket, internal bus, summit component, passport collection and the exact external departure point. Erdaobaihe and Changbaishan Railway Station are useful orientation nodes, but no hotel or ticket label guarantees a transfer.
The same-day operator notice controls summit access, internal sequence and closures. Carry warm layers in every season: the crater rim can be much colder and windier than the town. If Tianchi closes in the morning, visit the lower circuit and monitor official notices; do not create an unofficial reverse route or wait at a transfer point without staff confirmation.
