Longshuixia Fissure Gorge

Longshuixia Fissure Gorge (龙水峡地缝, Lóngshuǐxiá Dìfèng) is the more enclosed and physical half of Wulong's classic karst pairing. You descend into a narrow, water-cut corridor, pass cliff waterfalls and continue to a separate exit. It is worth adding after Three Natural Bridges if waterfalls and canyon immersion matter to you and everyone can manage sustained wet steps. It is not a compulsory second ticket.

Quick verdict: add it for water and depth, skip it for tired knees

Allow 1.5–2.5 hours from scenic transfer to exit, with extra margin for queues and the return vehicle. The path is directed: once you commit to the descent, turning back is generally not the practical plan. A recent visitor who combined both sites found Longshuixia much harder on the knees because of narrow descending stairs and spray. That is an individual report, not a measured distance, but it captures the important decision—make the choice before boarding the transfer.

Travelers with unstable knees, vertigo, poor balance or limited mobility should ask staff what elevators and reduced-mobility arrangements are operating that day. The entrance elevator does not make the whole gorge step-free. Doing only Three Natural Bridges remains a complete Wulong visit.

The route in the order you will use it

From Fairy Mountain Town's visitor centre, take the designated scenic transfer to the Longshuixia entrance. Confirm the final return arrangement before descending. The operator's published route begins with the sightseeing elevator, then follows the gorge through Jiaolong Cold Cave, Galaxy Waterfall, the narrow fissure section, Shengxiang Xishui and Longtan, before the exit transfer returns visitors to the reception centre.

Treat those names as pacing markers rather than a checklist. Stop before the waterfall zone to protect electronics and put on a rain layer, then move steadily through narrow platforms so you do not block the path. The most useful visual change is from the open upper entrance to the low-light, water-filled cleft; look upward when safely stationary rather than walking while filming.

Shoes, water and comfort

Wear shoes with real tread. Smooth soles become unreliable on damp stone and metal steps, while disposable shoe covers can reduce grip. A light waterproof jacket is more useful than carrying an umbrella through narrow sections. Keep a dry pouch for passport, phone and power bank.

There are fewer comfortable places to rest once inside the tight gorge. Use toilets before the transfer, carry water and eat beforehand or after the exit rather than expecting a proper meal on the path. Summer can feel humid even where the air is cooler; in cold weather, spray and shade make the gorge feel colder than the town forecast.

The gorge can close or alter access after heavy rain, rockfall risk or maintenance. Never cross a barrier or use an informal trail to recover a missed section. If the operator suspends entry, switch to a stable-weather plateau plan or return to town; a closed canyon is not a problem solved by arriving at another gate.

Tickets and the pairing decision

Trip.com maintains an exact Longshuixia ticket page and currently shows 08:30–17:00 as the ordinary operating baseline. Compare the live Longshuixia options on Trip.com, then verify the selected date, last admission, scenic bus and elevator inclusion with the Wulong operator. Package names can look similar while including different sites or internal transport.

If you are pairing it with Natural Bridges, buy only after checking the transfer sequence and the last gorge admission. Finish the bridges, follow the signed connection or return arrangement specified by staff, and enter Longshuixia only when you still have enough daylight and leg strength. Do not insert Fairy Mountain between them: it adds another vehicle loop and makes the final return fragile.

Getting back and what to do if plans slip

Before the first shuttle, save the Chinese names 仙女山游客中心 and 龙水峡地缝 and ask where the exit bus delivers you. Build the onward train or Chongqing transfer around the time you reach the reception centre, not the time you step out of the gorge. If you start late, preserve the booked return and cut Longshuixia rather than racing slippery stairs.

For a two-day stay, place Natural Bridges and Longshuixia together on the dry, higher-energy day. Use Fairy Mountain or Furong Cave as a separate second-day decision. That keeps each landscape distinct and gives you a realistic weather fallback.
