Transport and base
Qinhuangdao, Beidaihe and Shanhaiguan stations serve different sectors. Base near the route you prioritize and check seasonal buses; a coast hotel can be inconvenient for an early Jiaoshan climb.
Weather and margin
Sea fog, wind, rain, summer crowds and winter ice change the route. Jiaoshan needs dry, safe steps, while Laolongtou's shore can close or feel harsh in strong wind.
Where to go next
Continue east toward Liaoning or west to Beijing. Chengde is a separate inland branch and deserves its own stay.
